Our story begins about 30 years ago, on the beautiful island named Sri Lanka, associating a gorgeous village called Matale. Sri Lanka, which was titled the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, was called Ceylon by Western migrants. The specialty of Matale was the gentle environment condition, made by an ideal combination of both cold and warm climates. The cultivation done on thousands of acres across Matale is a side effect of these environmental conditions. Many crops like paddy, spices, coconut, and tea are cultivated in Matale such that it provides the livelihood of thousands of families. These crop cultivation which is nourished by the expert handiworks of ancient kings, like the Kala Weva reservoir complex, showcase the Sri Lankan pride to the world.

Sumedha Jinathissa is a proficient entrepreneur who emerged from the aforementioned town of Matale. Three decades ago, he commenced his spices plantation in the fertile lands of Matale, claimed by his paternal inheritance. Following the turmeric plantation which began in a land area of about an acre, he entered the local market. Fulfilled by the tri-fold combination of cultivations done in fertile land, carefully done packaging, and unparalleled customer service, the business of Ceylon Organic House grew day by day. The business ventures which began from an acre of land of turmeric cultivation, have expanded throughout Sri Lanka as of today. A variety of spices like turmeric, paprika powder, chilies flakes, cardamom, pepper, and five spice are being distributed across the country by Ceylon Organic House, currently. At present, Sumedha Jinathissa is farming a variety of crops in Matale and Kegalle in an ethical and organic manner. Over the last ten years, he scaled up cultivating traditional yams and as of now, he is considered to be one of the leading yam farmers in Sri Lanka.

In 2022, the company opened up its flagship store, Seeds & Yams at One Galle Face Mall, the largest shopping mall in the country. This store was opened to showcase and distribute the company's products to a wider range of consumers; local and foreign. The company is now emerging in new product development initiatives with its own R&D talent. Five lecturers of the Department of Food Science & Technology are supporting the company's R&D team to undertake its new product developments. These new products are also showcased in the flagship store the company operates.

Despite many difficulties in 2022, the company was able to double its revenue in the second half of the year through rigorous operations and high customer focus.
